Project Overview
New Manager Essentials is a responsive e-learning experience developed in Articulate Rise 360 to support first-time managers as they transition into leadership roles. The course combines practical guidance, realistic workplace scenarios, interactive learning activities, and knowledge checks to introduce essential people-management concepts and encourage thoughtful decision-making in everyday workplace situations.
The Goal
Create an engaging, accessible learning experience that helps new managers build foundational leadership knowledge and confidence. The course is designed to introduce practical approaches to communicating effectively, supporting employees, navigating common management challenges, and applying sound judgment in their new roles.
My Approach
For this project, I followed a practical instructional design process focused on identifying essential first-time manager competencies, developing realistic workplace scenarios, organizing content into a responsive learning experience, and validating the completed course in Articulate Rise 360.
Understand
Identified foundational people-management skills and common challenges faced by first-time managers, including communication, employee support, and everyday leadership decisions.
Design
Structured the learning experience around concise instruction, realistic workplace scenarios, opportunities for reflection, and interactive knowledge checks to reinforce essential concepts.
Develop
Built the responsive course in Articulate Rise 360 using scenario blocks, interactive content, knowledge checks, and a final quiz to support learning and application across devices.
Validate
Reviewed content clarity, navigation, scenario feedback, and quiz functionality to support a consistent learner experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
